Hiking

With lots of farm tracks you have the opportunity to walk off into any direction in total safety.  When it comes to an official hike the Compassberg is a definite must do! At 2500 m above sea level it is not an easy hike for the average person.  We highly recommend this for the more adventures.

It is about a 70 km drive to get to the foot of the mountain and you have to buy a permit from the farm owner.  We advice that you contact and book with them before you set off.  The can be a factor sometimes and in winter temperatures can drop to minus 10 degrees and even colder during the night.

Here is a good article to read about what to expect when climbing Compassberg: Getaway, Compassberg
